The 10th Biennial Conference is proud to support the program to offset carbon emissions related to the conference using a model adopted by the Society for Conservation Biology. By becoming "carbon neutral" we will neutralize the effect of our greenhouse gas emissions, so that our conference activities no longer contribute to global warming.
How does this work?
- When you visit the registration desk to pick up your conference packet you can donate $10 to help offset the conference’s carbon footprint.
Where do the donations go?
- Contributions will be given to the Baviaanskloof MegaReserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
- This program has three benefits: storing carbon, directly benefiting biodiversity by planting a variety of native species, and alleviating poverty.
- At a cost of $6/tonne, this is competitive with other offset investments, but with much higher benefits.
