Downloading Instructions
Downloading:
SWEMP or APRS products may be downloaded directly from the page on which they appear if your browser supports downloading.
Each download is a zip file, which means you must have a zip file manager on your computer in order to open the downloaded file. If you do not have a zip file manager on your computer, you can obtain a freeware or shareware copy from one of the Extraction Software links below. After you install the unzipping software, follow the directions below to open the database file, extract the files and view them.
To download: You may wish to make a folder before starting the download for the SWEMP database. If you have a zip file manager on your computer, click on the green download button to initiate the process. A window will appear that asks you if you want to 'open' the file or 'save' it. You will want to save the file onto your computer so click 'Save'. A 'Save As' window should appear and you can use this to navigate to the file folder on your computer in which you want to put the download.
Extracting:
Once the download has been completed, the resource must be extracted from its archive before you can use it. To extract, just click on the zip folder and the zip file manager should appear. Follow your particular zip manager instructions to extract the files. Note: If you are using Pkunzip to extract files, always use the ‘_d’ option to restore subdirectory structure. This is especially important for downloading and viewing entire resources off-line.
Extraction Software:
All of these resources have been archived using WinZip and will need to be extracted. To do so, you will need an unzipping utility for your system. Both shareware and freeware versions of this software are readily available on the Internet and most major online services. A partial list is provided here to aid you in finding such software.
