Using APRS To Prioritize

  1. Download the APRS software and install it on your computer.
  2. Create a new file and enter the non-native species for the area of interest. You can determine which species are in the area using:
    • Site surveys.
    • Existing lists from research reports and botanical surveys, herbaria, county weed boards, or weed management areas.
  3. Answer the APRS questions about each species ecology, distribution and control. You can find this information from:
    • The downloadable APRS database. This database has answers developed for APRS for specific locations. Answers for the questions at your location may not necessarily be the same.
    • The Fact Sheets on SWEPIC.
    • Information on the internet, check the species information pages in SWEPIC.
    • Literature research.
    • Expert information available from knowledgeable sources.
  4. Generate the APRS graphs and information. This information can be applied towards the development of a management plan for the area of interest.
